What Portland Trade Schools have to Offer Portland Trade Schools, technical colleges, technical programs, trade school

If you were graduating today, or you needed to train for a new career, you might consider attending a Portland trade school. Portland, Oregon has a total of ten technical colleges, with disciplines ranging from health care, paralegal, and information technology. The chief reason to attend a technical college—instead of a traditional university—is so you spend more time learning job-specific skills. Of the Portland trade schools, The Art Institute of Portland has a wide offering of disciplines for someone with both an artistic bend, as well as technical savvy. Perhaps you dream of working for Blizzard when you graduate. If so, you could choose one of several tracks: Web Design and Interactive Multimedia, Visual and Game Programming, or Game Art and Design.

A trade college, such as The Art Institute of Portland, focuses more on job-related skills. For example, if you chose Visual and Game Programming, you would spend more time actually writing games. You’d learn how to create the visual effects using a given programming language. With these skills, you could be hired to write the next World of Warcraft for Blizzard, or you could even try starting up your own gaming company. And just think, it only took you two to three years of study at a trade school in Portland. But if you’re more interested in the health care industry, you can take your pick of six different technical colleges. Both Anthem College and Everest College offer Pharmacy Technician courses, which is becoming a desirable career path, especially due to the aging baby boomer generation.

Then again, maybe you’d like to work at home, performing certain clerical duties for medical offices. Of the ten trade schools in Portland, Oregon, Concorde Career Colleges has a field of study in Insurance Coding and Billing. Anthem College also has Medical Billing and Coding. Both of these technical programs could later be performed in the home office, but you’d have to study at one of these technical colleges first. Knowing the medical codes is essential, so that health care providers can be paid through insurance companies, Medicare, or Medicaid.
Now, if you want to focus on accounting, you can choose between Everest College and Heald College. Both of these technical schools will provide you with the tools that you need in the accounting discipline. Mid-sized and large companies have accounting departments. Sometimes even the Federal Government seeks qualified accountants. So, if you attend one of these trade schools—and you love crunching numbers—you would no doubt enjoy a career in accounting.

As you can see, anyone in need of current workforce skills has plenty of educational options in Portland, Oregon. Their technical schools offer studies in the arts, health care, information technology, and even business. By studying at one of these Portland trade colleges, you would have the skills necessary for a promising career future. And depending on your chosen technical program, you may even be able to apply those skills to a work at home environment. Or you can find a position with a traditional company. You have many options available to you, and your imagination is the limit.
