Charlotte Technical Schools offer a wide range of technical programs to fit nearly anyone’s occupational interests. With each technical college providing job placement services upon graduation a student can reasonably expect to be working in their field of choice in as little as 2.5 years.

There are a wide range of technical schools to choose from in the metropolitan area including; Central Piedmont Community College, ITT Technical Institutes, Eastover Communications Arts, The Art Institute of Charlotte, ECPI College of Technology, Medical Careers Institute, and DeVry University. All of which offer accredited degrees in the courses they offer. An Associates Degree will take as little as 1 to 1.5 years to complete, a Bachelor of Science Degree from 2 to 2.5 years.

Central Piedmont Community College, with their main offices located at 1201 Elizabeth Ave, have multiple campuses, all in the Charlotte metro area, and is the largest community college in North Carolina. This makes Piedmont particularly attractive for students looking for technical programs closer to the city.

ECPI College of Technology, at 4800 Airport Center Pkwy, has won the 2007 “Best of Hampton Roads” gold award for Best Technical Training School. ECPI offers Bachelor of Science degrees in such fields as Game development stimulation, Business Administration, Information Technology, Criminal Justice, Web Development, Electronics Engineering, Database Programming, Nursing, Wireless systems, and Network Security. They also offer Associate degrees and diplomas in the same as well as Practical nursing, Physical Therapy, and Radiography.

DeVry University, (4521 Sharon Road), and ITT Technical Institutes, (4135 Southstream Blvd # 200), are the two most nationally known and recognized technical colleges with campuses in Charlotte. Both offer career oriented graduate and undergraduate programs in the top electronics and communication fields as well as Criminal Justice and professional graduate certificates in business, office management and health information technology.

The Art Institute of Charlotte, at 2110 Water Ridge Parkway, boasts a curriculum to prepare the student in the visual, creative, and applied arts world. Technical classes include design, media, fashion and culinary arts. Some of the more famous alumni of The Art Institute include; Ty Pennington of Trading Spaces and Extreme Home Makeover, who graduated with a degree in Graphic Design, as well as Carol Guzy and Martha Rail, graduates who won Pulitzer Prizes for photojournalism in 1995 and 1998 respectively.

Given that the city of Charlotte was voted by Self Magazine as one of the “Five Cities with Big Outdoor Appeal”, and is known as a magnet for progressive growth and smart development, the opportunities for technical graduates in the area are potentially limitless.
